Your website title tag is probably the most important meta tag in your website, well actually it is.
The title meta tag is the first tag that gets seen and read by the search engine spiders.
This is also very often a deciding factor, along with the content tag, that often entices a visitor to click on your site and not a competitors web site. |

Description tags are the second most important meta tag.
This is where you write a good description for your site using your keywords and key phrases for the search engine spiders to read, its a short description of what your web page is about, a chance to briefly describe your goods on offer. |

The keyword tag is the most abused meta tag out of them all, this was once a very important tag for good search engine listings, this was where you jammed in as many keywords and key phrases as possible to get found by the search engine spiders.
Sadly, due to excessive abuse of the keyword meta tag over the years, it is no longer read by almost all the search engine spiders, certainly not by the search engines that matter.
The keyword meta tag still needs to be used, but used correctly, we do put in the relevant keywords and key phrases to this day, as there is still a function for the keyword meta tag. |
